Phoenix Suns bench boss Monty Williams has been named the 2021-22 NBA Coach of the Year, the league announced on Monday.

He picked up 81 of the 100 total first-place votes. Taylor Jenkins of the Memphis Grizzlies, Erik Spoelstra of the Miami Heat, and Ime Udoka of the Boston Celtics split the other top spots.

Williams guided the Suns to an NBA-leading 64-18 mark this past season.

Phoenix signed Williams to a five-year deal in May 2019. The 50-year-old guided the club to its first NBA Finals berth since 1993 last season. He holds a 149-78 record with the Suns, including back-to-back 50-win campaigns.

Williams was already named Coach of the Year by his peers for the second straight season.
