Denver Nuggets guard Austin Rivers was ejected in the fourth quarter from Wednesday's game against the Indiana Pacers after seemingly pretending to hit Lance Stephenson with an elbow.

With just over eight minutes left in the contest, Rivers caught a pass at the top of the arc with Stephenson defending him closely. Before passing the ball, Rivers faked a sudden motion in Stephenson's direction, drawing a reaction from the Pacers veteran. Rivers was then assessed his second technical of the game, sending him to the locker room early.

Rivers was baffled by the ruling and called on the NBA to review the incident:

The controversial decision also caught the attention of Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant, who strongly disagreed with the call.

Rivers earned his first technical in an incident with Stephenson less than a minute earlier. After the Nuggets guard turned the ball over in the corner with the Pacers wing defending him, the two engaged in a shoving match and went face to face. They were quickly separated by teammates and staff, but not before receiving double technicals for the fracas.

Despite the ejection, Rivers perhaps got the last laugh: the Nuggets defeated the Pacers on their own floor, 125-118.
