Chicago Bulls guard Alex Caruso will undergo surgery early next week after sustaining a right wrist fracture Friday against the Milwaukee Bucks, the Bulls announced.

He'll miss at least six-to-eight weeks.

Caruso suffered the injury after a hard fall following a flagrant-2 foul by Bucks guard Grayson Allen in the third quarter.

Allen was ejected from the contest for the infraction, which was originally ruled a common foul.

Bulls head coach Billy Donovan criticized Allen for the incident postgame.

"For Alex to be in the air like that, and for (Allen) to take him down like that, it could have ended (Caruso's) career," Donovan said. "And (Allen) has a history of this. That to me was really, it was really dangerous. And I really hope the league takes a hard look at something like that because (Allen) could have really, really, seriously hurt him."

Chicago has also expressed outrage to the league office for Allen's actions, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

The NBA is reviewing the Duke product's flagrant 2, sources told Yahoo Sports' Vincent Goodwill. The league takes into account any injury sustained when determining disciplinary action, according to NBA insider Marc Stein.

Caruso's agent, Greg Lawrence, hopes there are consequences for Allen's behavior.

"This was a cheap shot on an airborne, defenseless player that resulted in a broken bone that will need to be surgically repaired and will cause Alex to miss at least two months of the season," Lawrence told ESPN.

"I am hopeful the league levels a punishment that will send a clear message that there is no place in the NBA for what happened to Alex and the Bulls."
