Former top-50 college prospect MarJon Beauchamp signed with the G League Ignite, he told ESPN's Jonathan Givony on Tuesday.

"I thought this was the best route I could go," Beauchamp said. "I've been off the radar for a while, but I'm glad to get an opportunity from (G League executives) Rod Strickland and Shareef Abdur-Rahim.

"It represents a lot for me, and I have to thank them. I'm confident that I can be a top pick next year with this platform."

Beauchamp was ranked the 47th-best prospect and a four-star recruit in the 2020 class by ESPN. However, he elected to forgo college in order to prepare for the NBA draft. He signed with Chameleon BX, a year-long personalized training program for recruits out of high school.

The 19-year-old said he spent eight months with Chameleon BX before enrolling at Yakima Valley, a community college in Washington, where he averaged 30.7 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 4.8 assists in 12 games.

Beauchamp will be added to an Ignite roster that already includes five-star recruits Jaden Hardy, Scoot Henderson, and Michael Foster and will be coached by former USC assistant Jason Hart.

The Ignite played their inaugural season in 2020-21. Two players on that roster were selected within the top 10 of the 2021 draft: Jalen Green (No. 2) and Jonathan Kuminga (No. 7).
