The Los Angeles Clippers officially locked up Kawhi Leonard to a new contract, president of basketball operations Lawrence Frank announced Thursday.
Leonard's deal is for four years and worth $176.3 million, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
It includes a player option for the final season, Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes reports.
"Kawhi is a transcendent player and a relentless worker who improves himself every day," Frank said in a statement. "We share many of the same goals, which include a long-term relationship.
"This agreement marks another important moment for our franchise and our fans, as we strive to create a championship-caliber organization, where players find the success and fulfillment they seek. We're eager to continue building with Kawhi."
The two-time Finals MVP declined his $36-million option for 2021-22 but was expected to remain with the Clippers. He's currently sidelined indefinitely after undergoing surgery on a partially torn right ACL.
Leonard has lived up to expectations since returning home in 2019 via free agency, earning two All-Star selections, two All-NBA nods, and a pair of NBA All-Defensive second-team honors.
The 30-year-old has averaged 26 points, 6.8 boards, five assists, and 1.7 steals over 109 appearances in a Clippers uniform.
