Philadelphia 76ers assistant Sam Cassell interviewed for the Washington Wizards' head coaching vacancy Tuesday, sources told The Athletic's Fred Katz.

Cassell spent the past 11 years as an NBA assistant, including five seasons in Washington, where he oversaw the early development of All-Star guards John Wall and Bradley Beal.

The 51-year-old was linked to bench boss openings last offseason with the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers.

Cassell won three NBA titles and earned one All-Star selection over his 15-year playing career.

The Wizards parted ways with Scott Brooks in early June after the two sides reportedly failed to agree on a new deal.
