The NBA sent out approximately 200 cease-and-desist letters to party promoters who have been using league branding, including the All-Star logo, for events during All-Star Weekend in Atlanta, a league spokesman told The New York Times' Marc Stein.
Both NBA commissioner Adam Silver and Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms have warned against traveling to the city or hosting parties connected to the festivities due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
A scaled-down version of All-Star Weekend centers around the game on March 7. The Skills Challenge will take place before tipoff, while the Three-Point Contest and Slam Dunk contest will follow the halftime buzzer.
Participants and guests are required to report to the league's official hotel by 7 p.m. ET on Saturday and remain there until Sunday's All-Star events at State Farm Arena.
Indianapolis was initially awarded hosting duties before the event was moved due to pandemic-related scheduling conflicts with the NCAA Tournament.
