Anthony Davis is in no rush to commit to a new contract with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Davis, 27, will consider several potential contract lengths and structures and doesn't intend to sign a new deal with the Lakers until after Thanksgiving at the earliest, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The seven-time All-Star is reportedly set on returning to Los Angeles on a max salary but will have options regarding the length of his next contract, which could span anywhere between two and five years.

The incentive for a two-year deal would be to allow Davis to accrue 10 years of service time before becoming a free agent once again. That would allow the four-time All-Defensive forward to cash in on a new contract that would pay him a starting salary worth 35% of the cap in 2022. In that scenario, he would also hit free agency at the same time as teammate and fellow Klutch Sports client LeBron James.

Davis could also choose to minimize any risk and sign a max five-year deal this offseason. That option would pay him approximately $189 million over the length of the contract, though he wouldn't become a free agent again until his early 30s.
