Paul George put up a cool 33 points on 10-of-17 shooting in his Los Angeles Clippers debut on Thursday, but he wasn't too impressed with his performance postgame.
"I thought I was terrible," George told reporters, including ESPN's Andrew Lopez. "I got a lot to get back to just from my performance on defense. Just for the flow of the game. I just haven't had the time. Getting a feel for the speed.
"This was essentially my first preseason game. It's a lot to take from this, and take it into the next one."
George missed the Clippers' first 11 games of the campaign after undergoing a pair of offseason shoulder surgeries.
The All-Star forward was efficient on the offensive end while also chipping in nine boards and four assists.
However, George struggled in other aspects of the game. The 29-year-old committed a team-high five turnovers - including three in the game's final five minutes - and got into foul trouble.
"We had the chance to win tonight - and a couple of bad possessions in a row on my behalf down the stretch - and we lose," George said. "That's what I gauge good games, bad games on."
George was acquired from the Oklahoma City Thunder in a blockbuster deal this past summer. He averaged career highs in points (28.0), rebounds (8.2), and steals (2.2) en route to finishing third in MVP voting last season.
