The Los Angeles Lakers announced forward Anthony Davis suffered a sprained right thumb in the first quarter of Saturday's 91-77 preseason loss to the Brooklyn Nets, according to ESPN's Dave McMenamin.
Davis retreated to the locker room and later re-emerged with an ice pack wrapped around his thumb. He was ruled out for the rest of the contest.
Initial exams showed no evidence of ligament damage and it's believed to be a Grade 1 sprain, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania, who adds the Lakers big man will undergo an MRI on Sunday to confirm the severity.
Davis finished with six points and three rebounds in 12 minutes.

Davis is the second star from the Lakers and Nets' two-game preseason series in China to see his day end early. Brooklyn guard Kyrie Irving played just one minute in Thursday's contest before aggravating the facial fracture that he initially suffered during an offseason workout. Irving was then ruled out for Saturday's matchup.
