Perkins: Cavs nixed LeBron's request to add Melo
Kendrick Perkins doesn't agree with the notion that LeBron James always gets what he wants.
Responding to a Twitter user who suggested that James' Los Angeles Lakers would've signed free-agent forward Carmelo Anthony at the superstar player's request, Perkins detailed a previous occasion when his former teammate was rebuffed, back when they were playing together for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
"How do you know Bron (hasn't gone) to the Lakers and told them to sign Melo? I've witnessed GMs tell Bron 'no' several times," Perkins tweeted. "Bron tried to get Melo in Cleveland and the Cavs told him 'no!'"
When another Twitter user accused him of lying about James' request being denied by the Cavaliers' front office, Perkins doubled down on his assertion.
Tell me one reason I have to lie?! Phil wanted Melo gone and Bron wanted him in Cleveland and the Cavs said No to Bron! So don’t come at me with the BS!

Perkins played with James and the Cavaliers during the 2014-15 and 2017-18 campaigns.
Anthony, still a free agent, hasn't appeared in a game since a 10-outing stint with the Houston Rockets early last season.
