Former Cleveland Cavaliers general manager David Griffin interviewed with the New Orleans Pelicans for their front-office opening on Thursday, a source told Marc Stein of The New York Times.

Griffin served as Cleveland's vice president of basketball operations before becoming its general manager in 2014. He and team owner Dan Gilbert agreed not to renew his deal in 2017 after failing to come to a resolution on an extension.

New Orleans parted ways with general manager Dell Demps in February after the mismanagement of Anthony Davis' trade request, naming Danny Ferry as Demps' interim replacement. Ferry is reportedly among the candidates to become the full-time GM.

The Pelicans' reported list of candidates includes the Golden State Warriors' Larry Harris and Trajan Langdon of the Brooklyn Nets, among others.
