Charlotte Hornets point guard Michael Carter-Williams will undergo surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder, and will miss the remainder of the season, the team announced Friday.
That closes the book on what's been a pretty disastrous first season in Charlotte for the former Rookie of the Year. In 52 games, Carter-Williams averaged 4.6 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.2 assists, while shooting 33.2 percent from the field and 23.7 percent from 3-point range.
It's the second time in Carter-Williams' career that he's suffered a torn labrum, though the first instance, back in 2014, involved his right shoulder. He's also missed significant time with ankle, hip, and knee injuries since being drafted in 2013, and has failed to ever play more than 70 games in a season.
