The Toronto Raptors have reached out to the Utah Jazz regarding a potential trade for veteran forward Boris Diaw, sources told Tony Jones of the Salt Lake Tribune.

Utah is looking to move Diaw before his $7.5-million contract becomes guaranteed on July 15. For the moment, it is only guaranteed for $500,000.

If no trade is reached, the Jazz will reportedly waive the French big man.

The 35-year-old Diaw remains a crafty and eclectic contributor that offers shooting and playmaking from the frontcourt, but he is nearing the end of his career and is prone to inconsistency. Nevertheless, he would fit the Raptors' need for a stopgap option in their otherwise thin frontcourt.

Toronto could absorb Diaw in the traded-player exception acquired from the DeMarre Carroll salary dump, or deal an existing player on their roster.

Diaw averaged 4.6 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 2.3 assists last season.
