New Clipper Pat Beverley trying to convince Griffin to stay
Patrick Beverley is wasting no time trying to fortify his new team.
The point guard, who joined the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday via a blockbuster trade with the Houston Rockets, is already pitching new teammate Blake Griffin on staying in L.A.
"We got to get him to try and stay," Beverley told the L.A. Times' Brad Turner about Griffin. "We get him, we're going to be dangerous."
Griffin is set to hit the open market after spending his entire seven-year career with the Clippers. Though the club is reportedly focused on retaining the star power forward, he's been linked to several other teams in rumors, including the Boston Celtics, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Phoenix Suns. The Suns have reportedly secured a meeting with him when free agency begins Saturday.

Beverley is doing what he can to influence the five-time All-Star to stay put.
"I'm all in for that recruitment stuff to try to get him to stay. I talked to him. He seems excited," the 28-year-old added. "It's a process. I told him no matter what to enjoy the process because he deserves it."
The elite defender was traded with several teammates - including Sam Dekker, Lou Williams, and Montrezl Harrell - in a handsome package that sent Chris Paul to Clutch City.
Beverley seems excited about the change of scenery, saying he's excited to kick some butt and win with the Clips.
Let's get it Clippers!!! Let's get it!!!!

It's not lost on him, though, that they'll have a better shot at success if Griffin stays.
