Brian Shaw confirms he's joining Lakers' coaching staff
The Los Angeles Lakers have found a lead assistant for Luke Walton's coaching staff.
Brian Shaw said Wednesday that he's working to finalize a deal with his old team, confirming reports that surfaced at the end of last week.
"It's true (I am joining the Lakers' coaching staff) - at this point just finalizing the last details of the contract," Shaw told Guy Haberman of 95.7 The Game.
Shaw spent close to two seasons as head coach of the Nuggets, going 56-85 during his tenure. Prior to his role with Denver, Shaw spent eight seasons as an assistant coach with the Lakers and the Indiana Pacers, helping the former to two championships.
Shaw's previous relationship with Walton could have factored into the decision, as two spent seven years together in Los Angeles when Walton was a player.
