The UFC finalized a heavyweight main event between Tom Aspinall and Marcin Tybura for its Fight Night event on July 22 in London at the O2 Arena, the promotion announced Wednesday.
Aspinall (12-3) will make his return to the Octagon after injuring his knee against Curtis Blaydes last July in London. Following some leg kicks early in the first round, Aspinall's knee gave out, and he suffered a TKO loss a mere 15 seconds into the fight.
The English fighter underwent surgery to repair a torn MCL, a torn meniscus, and some ACL damage, and he completed rehab to prepare for his return to competition. The peculiar defeat ended his nine-fight win streak that included finishes over Andrei Arlovski, Sergey Spivak, and Alexander Volkov.
Tybura (24-7) will enter the matchup on a two-match win streak after defeating Blagoy Ivanov by unanimous decision in February. The No. 10-ranked heavyweight has won seven of his past eight fights, with his lone loss coming at the hands of Volkov.
The U.K.-based card will also feature local favorite Molly McCann taking on Julija Stoliarenko in a women's flyweight bout.
