Merab Dvalishvili beats Aldo by unanimous decision at UFC 278
Bantamweight Merab Dvalishvili defeated Jose Aldo by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27) at UFC 278.
The fighter from Georgia extended his win streak to eight with his victory over the Brazilian.
Afterward, Dvalishvili downplayed the idea of a potential title fight against bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling, who was in his corner Saturday, instead calling Sterling his "brother."
Dvalishvili's win streak continues following a second-round TKO over Marlon Moraes last September. "The Machine" has been unblemished since suffering two consecutive losses to begin his UFC tenure.
Meanwhile, Aldo saw his win streak halted at three fights following Saturday's result. He scored victories over Marlon Vera, Rob Font, and Pedro Munhoz. Prior to that, he lost his first two appearances in the 135-pound weight class.
