Nate Diaz shuts down McGregor bout: 'He's been finished off left and right'

Nate Diaz isn't interested in a trilogy fight with Conor McGregor - at least not right now.

"I'm sure we probably will fight one day eventually, too. But at the time right now, it's not the time," Diaz told ESPN's Ariel Helwani. "He's been finished off left and right. I might have to go get finished a few times before we fight again."

McGregor and Diaz met twice in 2016 in what would be one of the greatest rivalries in UFC history. Diaz won by submission in the first bout and McGregor earned a decision victory in the rematch.

Some pundits believe this is a perfect time for the two stars to settle the score, since McGregor recently suffered a TKO loss to Dustin Poirier and Diaz is coming off a defeat to Jorge Masvidal in 2019.

McGregor even mentioned the trilogy bout as an option after UFC 257 in January, but Diaz is focused on potential matchups against Poirier and Charles Oliveira.

"When the time is right, the time is right," Diaz said. "But now's the time for bigger and better stuff."
