One of the most important rules of MMA is to "protect yourself at all times."
Apparently that extends to the referee as well.
In-cage official Frank Camacho had to think fast when a fighter attacked him at an MMA event in Spain this past weekend. The fighter in the above video is clearly rattled after being knocked out by a kick to the head (an illegal one as he was down when it landed), and Camacho coolly defused the situation by avoiding damage and tying the confused man up as soon as possible.
Camacho is a fighter himself with a 19-4 record who appeared as a contestant on "The Ultimate Fighter 16." His experience paid off big time on this occasion.
