Being named Opening Day starter, especially for the defending World Series champions, comes with a lot of responsibility, so it's no wonder the mind of Kansas City Royals right-hander Edinson Volquez wandered on Sunday.
Volquez wore his Royals spring training hat out to the mound to pitch against the New York Mets, before making an adjustment and changing it up for one of the Royals' fancy, new gold-lettered hats later in the game.

Volquez struck out 14 hitters during 13 2/3 innings of Cactus League play, so maybe he thought the spring lid would bring him some good luck?
