The Rangers declined their option on Tateyama on Tuesday, the Fort Worth Star Telegram reports.
Thus far, Tateyama has been unable to carry his success in Japan and at Triple-A to the big leagues. He'll turn 37 in December, but may get a low-risk offer including a spring training invite on the open market.
