Chocolate syrup won't be on the menu at Nationals Park this season. Not even for Sunday games.
Max Scherzer, who brought the chocolate shower celebration to the Washington Nationals' clubhouse last season, announced Friday that the routine has been shelved for good.
"That was last year," Scherzer told MLB Network Radio's Jim Duquette and Jim Bowden, according to Scott Allen of the Washington Post. "That was just a one-year thing. It was kind of a spur of the moment how it even came about. We'll look for a new way try to have some more fun this year, in '16."
The syrup routine gained notoriety when Scherzer himself was doused following his no-hitter in June. While there's no word yet on what shenanigans he's planning to bring to this year's victories, Scherzer's teammates are confident that the ace has something else up his sleeve.

"I think Max will do a great job on picking that," Bryce Harper said during the same interview. "He did a great job picking that last year, so, we'll have a little bit of fun with that, and I'm sure we'll flash some ideas out there and get it going."
Earlier this month, the Orioles announced an end to their shaving-cream pie celebrations.
