Harper out of Nationals' lineup day after scuffle with Papelbon

Bryce Harper won't take the field for the Washington Nationals on Monday, just a day after an ugly dugout altercation with teammate Jonathan Papelbon.

Though Monday's makeup game against the Cincinnati Reds was supposed to be a scheduled rest day for Harper, manager Matt Williams told reporters the 22-year-old was omitted from the lineup for his role in Sunday's fracas. Matt den Dekker will start in Harper's right field spot.

When asked about the incident after Sunday's 12-5 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies, Harper shrugged off the altercation.

"He apologized, so whatever," Harper told reporters. "I really don't care. ... It's like brothers fighting. That's what happens. I'm looking forward to the next six games."

Harper, who leads the National League in nearly every offensive category, has missed just seven games all season.
