The major-league debut of Luis Severino may have been grabbing headlines before Wednesday's ball game between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox, but David Ortiz wanted to put that to rest early.
In the fourth inning, "Big Papi" sent a moonshot 435 feet into the right center field stands off of the 21-year-old for his 21st home run of the season.

The last Red Sox player to hit a home run off a Yankees pitcher making his MLB debut was Tony Conigliaro in 1964.
Severino had been on a roll until Ortiz took him deep, striking out three and facing the minimum.
"We don't leave New York without David probably going deep one time. He just put a beautiful swing on the pitch," manager John Farrell told reporters after Boston's 2-1 win. "But there's no question we'll see Severino a lot in years to come, and that's a good-looking young pitcher."
