The New York Yankees are upping their offer in order to try and land third baseman Chase Headley.

With the San Francisco Giants also in pursuit, the Yankees reportedly remain strong on Headley and are willing to offer him a four-year deal, according to Buster Olney of ESPN

Headley spent the first eight years of his career with the San Diego Padres before the Yankees acquired him in July. In 58 games in the Bronx, the 30-year-old slashed .262/.371/.398 with six home runs and 17 RBIs.

Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reported last week that Headley had a four-year deal in the range of $65 million on the table but it was unclear from which team.

In addition to the Yankees and Giants, the Houston Astros have kicked the tires on Headley, according to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe.
