Report: Pirates to promote top prospect Gregory Polanco
Gregory Polanco's major-league debut is reportedly imminent, as sources told Tim Williams of Pirates Prospects that the 22-year-old outfielder will be recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis and activated by the Pittsburgh Pirates before Friday's series opener with the Milwaukee Brewers.
Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal's sources also suggest Polanco is Pittsburgh bound for Friday.
Widely considered among the game's elite prospects, Polanco has assaulted International League pitching this season, hitting .351/.410/.547 with 27 extra-base hits and 14 stolen bases through 57 games thus far.
Polanco, who logged just 70 games above Hi-A heading into the 2014 campaign, possesses "the potential to develop into an all-star-caliber player at the major-league level," according to Baseball Prospectus' Jason Parks.
Polanco will likely take over in right field for the Pirates, as the club has received negligible production from the position thus far.
