The San Francisco Giants have begun putting out feelers to see who might be interested in trading for their players, reports The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.
With seven weeks remaining before the deadline, San Francisco isn't fully committed to selling, but it enters Monday tied with the Los Angeles Angels and Kansas City Royals for the second-worst record (29-43) in the majors.
The Giants, who own a $197-million payroll, could look to off-load the salaries of pending free agents Luis Arraez ($12 million) and Robbie Ray ($25 million). Another possible trade candidate is third baseman Matt Chapman, although he's making $25 million annually through 2030.
San Francisco is unlikely to find quality deals for underperforming veterans Rafael Devers and Willy Adames due to their high salaries, and the team has shown no interest in trading ace Logan Webb, a source told Rosenthal.
The Giants are in the midst of their worst campaign since 2017 during manager Tony Vitello's first season with the franchise.
