Boston Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story underwent a successful sports hernia repair, the team announced Friday.
Story weighed his options in recent days after landing on the 10-day injury list and ultimately decided to have surgery.
"The basic prognosis is 6-10 weeks, give or take," Story said last Saturday of his potential return timeline, according to Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com.
Story has been dealing with the hernia issue since spring training.
The 33-year-old has battled several injuries since joining the Red Sox in 2022, playing only 163 games through his first three seasons in Boston. The two-time All-Star did stay healthy in '25, hitting 25 home runs with 96 RBIs in 157 appearances.
Story is hitting .206 with three homers in 41 games this season.
The Red Sox are 22-27, good for fourth place in the competitive AL East.
