Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Blake Snell was scratched from his scheduled start against the Los Angeles Angels on Friday, according to The Athletic's Katie Woo.

The team didn't provide a reason for Snell's absence.

The Dodgers will go with a bullpen game versus the Angels, likely featuring Will Klein as the starter, according to Woo.

Snell entered spring training experiencing the same type of shoulder discomfort that he felt at the end of last season, when he threw 34 innings during Los Angeles' playoff run.

The 33-year-old returned to the Dodgers' rotation May 9 in a start against the Atlanta Braves after previously being sidelined with shoulder fatigue.

Snell allowed four earned runs over three innings of work in that contest.

The southpaw is in the third year of a five-year, $182-million deal.
