Former All-Star pitcher Kodai Senga doesn't want to leave Queens.

Senga recently told the Mets that he prefers to stay with New York rather than be traded to another team, sources told Will Sammon of The Athletic.

The 32-year-old reportedly wants to reestablish himself as a frontline starter after dealing with a hamstring injury, poor performance, and a demotion to Triple-A in 2025.

Senga also feels like he has an obligation to the Mets and their fans, according to Sammon.

The right-hander is reportedly one of the more popular names on the trade market, as several teams have contacted the Mets about his availability this offseason. Multiple clubs are believed to view Senga as a buy-low candidate.

New York has plenty of options for its 2026 rotation. Senga, Nolan McLean, Clay Holmes, Sean Manaea, David Peterson, Brandon Sproat, Jonah Tong, and Christian Scott could all make starts next season. The team will also likely add pitching help through free agency or trades.

Senga, who can block a move to 10 different clubs due to a limited no-trade clause, is still owed a combined $28 million over the next two seasons with a $15-million club option for 2028.

The 2023 NL Rookie of the Year runner-up has authored a 3.00 ERA with 1.25 WHIP and 10.1 K/9 over 285 innings (52 starts) across three MLB seasons.
