Toronto Blue Jays star slugger George Springer is in Friday's starting lineup, batting first as the designated hitter against Yoshinobu Yamamoto and the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 6 of the World Series.

Springer was questionable for the remainder of the series after experiencing right side discomfort during a swing in the seventh inning of Game 3 and exiting the contest.

The 36-year-old missed Game 4 but was close to playing Game 5 after he "checked every box" during pregame workout sessions, manager John Schneider told reporters Thursday. Schneider opted not to use Springer during the Blue Jays' 6-1 win.

Springer has been sensational for the Blue Jays this postseason, posting an .884 OPS with four home runs, six doubles, and nine RBIs in 57 at-bats.

He hit a memorable late-inning homer against the Seattle Mariners in Game 7 of the ALCS to help the Blue Jays advance to the Fall Classic.

The Blue Jays will secure their first World Series title in 32 years if they defeat Los Angeles in Toronto on Friday.
