The Texas Rangers made a non-guaranteed offer to free-agent designated hitter J.D. Martinez, reports the New York Post's Jon Heyman.
Martinez is continuing to stay in baseball shape as he waits for the right deal, Heyman adds.
The 37-year-old remains a free agent after spending the 2024 campaign with the New York Mets, where he slashed .235/.320/.406 with 16 home runs and 69 RBIs in 120 games.
Texas has struggled offensively this season, ranking 21st in home runs, 25th in RBIs, and 26th in runs scored.
The Rangers enter Friday one game under .500, eight games back of the Houston Astros for the top spot in the American League West.
