All-Star voting update: Judge, Ohtani leading while Vladdy makes push

Major League Baseball released its second All-Star voting update Monday, the final update before Phase 1 of voting ends on Thursday at noon ET.

To little surprise, reigning MVPs Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani remain the top vote-getters in their respective leagues, putting them on pace to earn automatic starting spots in next month's Midsummer Classic. Judge's 2,699,483 votes lead the way among all players, and are almost 800,000 ahead of Cal Raleigh among AL players. He's only narrowly ahead of Ohtani, though, who's garnered 2,521,718 votes.

The biggest change came at first base in the American League, where Toronto Blue Jays star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has taken a narrow lead over the Yankees' Paul Goldschmidt. Detroit Tigers veteran Javier Báez, meanwhile, moved ahead of Los Angeles Angels superstar Mike Trout for third place among AL outfielders as he tries to make his first All-Star appearance since 2019.

Over in the Senior Circuit, three Dodgers - Ohtani, Freddie Freeman, and Will Smith - have received over 2 million votes thus far. The Cubs' Pete Crow-Armstrong is the only other player who's crossed the 2-million vote mark.

The top two vote-getters at each position (and top six outfielders) at the end of Phase 1 on Thursday will advance to the final round of voting. If Judge is an automatic starter, only the top four AL outfielders will advance.

Here's a look at the current leaders at each position.
