Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Jacob Misiorowski was removed from his major-league debut after throwing five no-hit innings against the St. Louis Cardinals at American Family Field.

Misiorowski, the Brewers' No. 1 prospect, began the sixth inning by throwing three balls to Victor Scott II. He then appeared to roll his ankle while stepping off the mound and departed mid-at-bat.

The Brewers said he was removed because of right calf and quad cramping. Fortunately, Misiorowski said postgame that both muscles, as well as his ankle, are no worse for wear.

"(Feeling) good. Cramped up, and that's when I just rolled it (my ankle), so all good. Nothing crazy," he told reporters, according to Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Misiorowski continued, "I don't want to leave like that, and I feel like I could have kept going, but you know, (I) cramped up and ... stuff happens."

Nick Mears entered for Misiorowski and finished the plate appearance by walking Scott. Mears then retired the next three batters to briefly preserve the combined no-hitter through six. Willson Contreras then broke up the no-hitter with a leadoff single off Aaron Ashby in the seventh.

Misiorowski finished his night having allowed no runs or hits with five strikeouts and four walks over five-plus innings on 81 pitches (49 strikes). Fourteen of his pitches were clocked at 100-plus mph, according to Sarah Langs of MLB.com. Misiorowski earned his first big-league win when Mears and Ashby combined for four shutout innings of relief in a 6-0 Brewers victory.

The 23-year-old became the ninth pitcher of the modern era (since 1901), and first Brewers pitcher, to throw at least five no-hit innings in his MLB debut, according to Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

The only pitcher in MLB history to throw a complete-game no-hitter in his big-league debut remains Bumpus Jones, who did it with the Cincinnati Reds in 1892.

Juan Nieves threw the only complete-game no-hitter in Brewers history on April 15, 1987, at Baltimore. Corbin Burnes and Josh Hader also threw a combined no-no for Milwaukee against Cleveland in 2021.
