Aaron Boone is delighted to return as New York Yankees manager next season after leading the club to the 2024 World Series.
"I'm excited to be back and excited to get to lead this crew again," Boone said Monday, according to SNY.
The Yankees exercised their 2025 option on the skipper's contract last Friday. Boone said the two sides haven't discussed an extension or his future beyond next season.
"We'll see if there's any more dialogue that goes on," the manager said.
Boone added that there will be at least one change on next season's coaching staff, though two is a possibility, according to MLB.com's Bryan Hoch. He wouldn't reveal what the changes were going to be.
The skipper also revealed that he'll travel to California next week with executive Hal Steinbrenner to meet with free-agent outfielder Juan Soto and his agent, Scott Boras, about returning to play with the Yankees, adding that he hopes his team is in the mix for Japanese hurler Roki Sasaki.
"This is a guy that you can certainly envision coming over here and being an ace and a dominant starter," Boone said of Sasaki, who spent the 2024 campaign with the Chiba Lotte Marines in Japan.
Boone has managed the Yankees since 2018. He owns a 603-429 regular-season record and has three AL East division titles to his credit.
