Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto was diagnosed with a strained rotator cuff after undergoing testing, the team announced Sunday, according to SportsNet LA's Kirsten Watson.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts added the injury isn't season ending but will take time to heal.
The club placed Yamamoto on the 15-day injured list earlier in the day.
Yamamoto left Saturday's start against the Kansas City Royals after two innings with triceps tightness. His velocity dropped throughout the outing.
The Dodgers broadcast showed pitching coach Mark Prior calling Roberts and a team trainer into the tunnel after Yamamoto departed.

Yamamoto said he felt tightness in his triceps while warming up and mentioned it to coaches, but he didn't feel it was serious enough to skip his start, according to the Los Angeles Times' Mike DiGiovanna.
If Yamamoto mentioned during warmups that he felt tightness, "I wasn’t part of that conversation," #Dodgers MGR Dave Roberts said. "I know there was no point in time where we felt he couldn’t make the start going into today or today. If that was the case, he wouldn’t have."

Yamamoto entered Saturday with a 6-2 record, 3.00 ERA, and 10.4 K/9. He signed a 12-year, $325-million contract in the offseason.
