The Milwaukee Brewers and veteran catcher Gary Sánchez agreed to a one-year, $7-million contract, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network.
The pact includes a mutual option for 2025, a source told Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.
Sánchez will likely earn playing time as a designated hitter and backup catcher since the Brewers already have 2022 All-Star and current Silver Slugger William Contreras as the starter at the position.
Milwaukee also already signed Eric Haase to a major-league deal this offseason to presumably serve as a backup catcher.
Sánchez went deep 19 times with 47 RBIs and a .780 OPS over 75 games with the San Diego Padres last season. It was his best offensive campaign since 2019 when he was an All-Star with the New York Yankees.
