The Boston Red Sox are open to listening to trade proposals for outfielder/designated hitter Masataka Yoshida and closer Kenley Jansen, sources told Alex Speier of The Boston Globe.

The moves wouldn't be made to lower payroll but to free up money for other potential free-agent targets, according to Speier.

Slugger Teoscar Hernández is on the wish list as the Red Sox are focused on adding a right-handed bat with pop, sources told Speier. However, Boston has reportedly been reluctant to offer more than a two-year deal. The former All-Star is apparently eyeing a three-year pact or longer.

Meanwhile, the club is still interested in signing left-handers Shota Imanaga, Jordan Montgomery, or Blake Snell, sources told Speier, who adds there's doubt if the latter two pitchers are realistic targets.

Yoshida is still owed $72 million over the next four years after finishing sixth in AL Rookie of the Year voting last season. The 30-year-old hit 15 homers with 72 RBIs and a .783 OPS over 140 games. However, he was a liability in the field, accruing a minus-14.9 defensive rating, per FanGraphs.

Jansen, who's owed $16 million in 2024 during his last season under contract, authored a 3.63 ERA with 29 saves and a 10.5 K/9 in 51 appearances en route to becoming an All-Star for the fourth time during his stellar 14-year career.
