The Chicago White Sox bolstered their bullpen by signing left-handed reliever Tim Hill to a one-year, $1.8-million deal, they announced Thursday.
Hill spent the past four campaigns with the San Diego Padres before the team non-tendered him in mid-November.
The 33-year-old authored a 4.18 ERA and 1.35 WHIP during his time with the Padres. However, Hill posted career-worst marks in ERA, FIP, and hits per nine innings last year.
The White Sox have been busy in free agency and the trade market as the new front office looks to turn around a club that lost 101 games in 2023.
Chicago designated right-hander Declan Cronin for assignment to make room for Hill on the 40-man roster.
