The Seattle Mariners are interested in trading for second baseman Gleyber Torres in a deal with the New York Yankees, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post.
The Yankees could look at bullpen arms in return for Torres, notes Sherman.
Seattle has a hole at second after Adam Frazier became a free agent. The club reportedly inquired with the Milwaukee Brewers about Kolten Wong's availability.
Acquiring a player like Torres, who's a two-time All-Star, would fill that need. The 25-year-old went deep 24 times with 76 RBIs and a .761 OPS over 140 games for the Yankees last season.
The Mariners already made a significant splash this offseason by trading for star outfielder Teoscar Hernandez in a deal with the Toronto Blue Jays.
