The New York Yankees are sending right-hander Frankie Montas for an MRI on his shoulder.
Montas allowed four runs across 3 1/3 innings in New York's loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday.
The 29-year-old said that he felt an impingement in the shoulder when he woke up Friday and had trouble keeping it loose during his outing, according to YES Network's Meredith Marakovits.
This is the second shoulder issue Montas has battled this season. He missed nearly three weeks in July when he was a member of the Oakland Athletics with shoulder inflammation.
Despite the setback, Montas is hopeful it won't be a serious issue.
"I'm feeling optimistic about this," he said, according to the New York Post's Jon Heyman. "I don't think it's anything crazy."
Montas added that based on how he's feeling on Saturday, he thinks he could make his next start.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone is taking a more guarded approach, admitting he is "at least a little concerned" about the status of Montas' shoulder, according to the Bergen Record's Pete Caldera.
Montas has struggled since the Yankees acquired him in a six-player deal on Aug. 1. He owns a 1-3 record with a 6.35 ERA and 33 strikeouts across 39 2/3 innings in eight starts.
