The struggling Toronto Blue Jays are set to receive a major boost as they reinstated outfielder George Springer from the 10-day injured list Monday.

The club designated outfielder Bradley Zimmer for assignment in a corresponding roster move.

Springer has been battling a nagging injury to his right elbow but only required a minimum stint after being placed on the IL on Aug. 6.

The 32-year-old's return to the lineup comes at an opportune time for the Blue Jays, who have struggled to a 4-7 record since the trade deadline. Springer owns a .795 OPS with 18 home runs, 49 RBIs, and 10 stolen bases across 89 games this season.

Zimmer has struggled to the tune of a .446 OPS with a pair of home runs in 87 plate appearances in 2022. The Blue Jays acquired the 29-year-old in a trade with the Cleveland Guardians in April.
