Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Kevin Kiermaier will undergo hip surgery that will force him to miss the rest of the season, manager Kevin Cash announced Monday, according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.
Cash added that catcher Mike Zunino will have thoracic outlet syndrome surgery and is also out for the remainder of the campaign.
Kiermaier and Zunino could both become free agents in the offseason.
The 32-year-old Kiermaier has spent his entire 10-year career with the Rays, winning three Gold Gloves while hitting 82 homers with 112 stolen bases. Meanwhile, Zunino has been with Tampa Bay since 2019. He became an All-Star last season after going deep 33 times with an .860 OPS over 109 games.
