Tigers' Baez, Royals' Garrett renew feud with chirps, taunts
Detroit Tigers shortstop Javier Baez and Kansas City Royals reliever Amir Garrett continued their rivalry during Saturday's game.
Garrett emphatically celebrated a strikeout to end the sixth inning with Baez on-deck, and then the two proceeded to jaw at each other:

The shouting and taunting continued when Baez went out to the field to start the seventh:

"He can do whatever he wants," Baez said postgame, according to the Detroit News' Chris McCosky. "I got nothing. It's part of his game, and he knows my game."
The two players didn't end up facing each other, but the Tigers and Royals play 14 more times this season.
"He didn't ask for it," Baez said when asked if he wanted to face Garrett in the bottom of the seventh.
Garrett didn't speak to the media following the contest.
The duo was involved in a benches-clearing incident after Garrett, who was with the Cincinnati Reds, taunted the Chicago Cubs' dugout in May 2021 when Baez was a member of the Cubs. The league suspended Garrett for five games for his role in the fracas.
Baez retaliated by mocking Garrett after a walk-off hit in July 2021.
