Brandon Lowe out at least 3 weeks with stress reaction in back
The Tampa Bay Rays will be without Brandon Lowe for at least three weeks as the former All-Star was diagnosed with a stress reaction in his back, the team announced Tuesday, according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.
After three weeks, the second baseman will be re-evaluated.
In speaking with doctors and training staff, Lowe said that "they're very confident that (the three weeks) is all it's gonna take. And (I'll) be back out here pretty soon," according to Topkin.
Lowe landed on the injured list on Monday, with the Rays recalling infielder Isaac Paredes from the minors, who was acquired before the season from the Detroit Tigers for Austin Meadows.
The 27-year-old has been a key contributor for the Rays, who currently sit second in the AL East. After finishing with down-ballot MVP votes the last two seasons, Lowe has hit .212/.293/.415 with five homers and one stolen base over 32 games.
