The New York Mets will be without outfielders Mark Canha and Brandon Nimmo for the team's home opener Friday as both were placed on the COVID-19 list, according to Justin Walters of CBS Sports.

Both Canha and Nimmo are reportedly asymptomatic, according to Mike Puma of the New York Post.
The Mets activated outfielder Nick Plummer and infielder Matt Reynolds from the taxi squad.
Jeff McNeil, Starling Marte, and Travis Jankowski will play the outfield with Canha and Nimmo sidelined. Pete Alonso will man first base, an occasional position of Canha's, while J.D. Davis will DH.
The Mets host their first home game of the 2022 campaign against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday, with newly acquired right-hander Chris Bassitt tabbed as the starter.
Canha inked a two-year, $26.5-million contract with the Mets as a free agent this past offseason. The 33-year-old is among the league's hottest hitters, going 8-for-21 with four walks and three RBIs.
Nimmo, 29, has spent his entire professional career in Flushing and has also been one of the most difficult outs to start the year, going 8-for-24 with four walks and two homers.
It's unclear if other players will be impacted by the potential outbreak.
