The Washington Nationals and free-agent reliever Steve Cishek have agreed to a one-year contract, a source told Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

Cishek's pact is for $1.75 million and includes performance bonuses, according to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com.

The right-hander posted a 3.42 ERA with 64 strikeouts over 74 appearances for the Los Angeles Angels last season.

The 35-year-old has also pitched for the Miami Marlins, St. Louis Cardinals, Seattle Mariners, Tampa Bay Rays, Chicago Cubs, and Chicago White Sox over a 12-year MLB career.

The reported addition of Cishek should help a Nationals bullpen that finished with the second-worst fWAR in the majors during the 2021 campaign.
