Glasnow: Most Rays players didn't agree with split-city plan

Rays right-hander Tyler Glasnow doesn't believe the majority of his teammates supported the now-dead split-city plan between Tampa Bay and Montreal for the 2028 campaign.

"I think most players were, like, not agreeing," Glasnow said, according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. "They were like, 'I really have to move that much?' The details were going to be ironed out, and I think spring training was going to be in the Tampa Bay area, so it would really only be you'd have to move twice a year.

"But in terms of free agents and stuff, the idea of having to go across to another country in the middle of the season is a bit rough."

Rays owner Stuart Sternberg announced Thursday that the MLB executive council killed the team's plan - which was in the works for years - to play homes games in both cities. Sternberg added he doesn't intend to sell the club or relocate.

Tampa Bay's lease at Tropicana Field is set to expire after the 2027 season.
