Genevieve Beacom became the first woman to pitch for a professional Australian baseball team.
The 17-year-old left-hander, who plays for the Melbourne Aces, entered in the sixth inning of Saturday's game against the Adelaide Giants with her team trailing by four runs.

Beacom tossed a scoreless frame, allowing no runs and walking one during a 7-1 loss.
Following her outing, Beacom provided an inspiring message to other young women who hope to play professional baseball like she does.
"If anyone tries to push you to do something you don't want to do, push you to softball or play a sport you should be playing, don't listen," Beacom said. "Do what you want to do and just know that if you work hard enough, you can definitely make it somewhere. It's not impossible. ... It can be done."
Beacom, who sits in the 80-to-84-mph range with a sweeping breaking ball, joined the Aces in January as a development player after previously pitching in the Victorian Summer Baseball League.
